Today, Boyce Centennial Library is releasing the Primo Discovery System for library patrons. Primo is a one-stop solution for discovering and accessing local and remote resources, such as books, journal articles, and digital media. Primo exposes patrons to the richness of the collection of Boyce Library while providing a simple, streamlined interface for an optimal research experience.
Primo is now the default search engine on the library homepage. If you notice above, a streamlined search interface has been implemented with links to advanced search options and remote database searching.
We are releasing our implementation of Primo today as a beta, knowing that we still have some minor issues to correct. In the days to come, we will be releasing some screencasts, demonstrating Primo and showing how to get the most benefit from it.
One area we intend to correct very quickly is Interlibrary Loan functionality. For now, Primo does not perform ILL requests. If you need to request an item through ILL, use the WorldCat Local interface. We expect to have this resolved with Primo in the next few days.
We think you will find Primo to be a superior research tool. Check this blog regularly over the coming weeks for more information as well as short training videos that will help you get the most from our library collection.
