Circulation Policies

The information on this page does not apply to items borrowed through interlibrary loan (ILL).
Lending Items
Boyce College and Masters-level students at Southern Seminary are given loan durations of three weeks per item. Doctoral students and faculty have significantly lengthened loan periods of one due date per semester for doctoral students and one due date per year for professors, though items are subject to being recalled at any point. Though doctoral students and professors typically cannot renew online or over the phone, all other patrons may do so for items that have not been requested by others.
Returning Books
You may return your books at the circulation desk in the library, or if the library is closed you may deposit them in the book drop. Books from local universities/seminaries may also be returned here to be sent to their institutions via metroversity courier.

Doctoral students have two due dates per year, one in the summer and one in the winter. For the summer due date, books may be renewed online or over the phone. For the winter due date, all doctoral students, including those in distance programs, must return all books to the library. Provided that the books have not been recalled, we will check them back out to you if needed.

Distance students please return books to:

SBTS Library Circulation
2825 Lexington Rd.
Louisville, KY 40280

We will ship books back to you if requested, again provided that the books have not been recalled. Simply include a note with your books indicating you would like the books to be re-checked out to you and also include your name and current mailing address.

Recalling Items
Patrons can recall items from faculty and doctoral students. Please ask the attendant at the circulation desk for help with recalling items. If you are a faculty member or a doctoral student and you receive a recall notice, please arrange to have the item returned to us by the new due date. Late fines for recalled items accrue at $5 per day.
Hold Requests
A hold request can be placed if an item is already checked out. Upon its return an email will be sent to the requesting patron and held for seven days.

  • Overdue CDs and DVDs: $1.00 per day
