Music and AV Library
about the music and AV library
The Music and Audio-Visual Library is located on the ground floor of the Boyce Centennial Library. The Music Library supports the curriculum of the School of Church Music and Worship at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and its holdings provide resources for community worship and ministry. Significant collections include 4000 hymnological items, sacred vocal and keyboard collections, American music books and scores, and church music materials. The library also holds many instrumental scores and parts, as well as multiple copies of over 3100 anthem titles. The Rare Books and Scores collection includes hymnals dating from 1597, shaped-note collections, and 19th century keyboard music. The Music Library is the Commissioned Works Repository for the Music Teachers National Association.
The Audiovisual Library houses videos, cassettes, resource kits, overhead transparencies, games, puppets, and other audiovisual materials that support the mission of the Seminary and that offer education and entertainment for the library’s users. The library also serves as the archive of all recorded chapels, conferences, and other meetings held at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
