Circulation Policies

The James P. Boyce Centennial Library is committed to assisting you in finding the information you need in order to be a faithful steward of the research opportunities afforded to you during your time at Southern Seminary. The library staff understand that the use of a large academic library such as ours can be a daunting task. It is therefore our commitment to serve you in this task. Indeed, we consider it our ministry. So, please, do not hesitate to ask us and allow us to minister to you as you seek to learn the ropes of academic library research.

Lending Periods
Boyce College and Masters-level students at Southern Seminary are given loan durations of three weeks per item. Doctoral students and faculty have significantly lengthened loan periods of approximately six months, though items are subject to being recalled at any point. These items can be renewed online by the patron, via telephone, or in person.
Returning Books
Please return your books when you are finished using them so that other students and faculty can have access to them as well. You may return your books at the circulation desk in the library, or, if the library is closed, you may deposit them in the book drop. Metroversity patrons may return the book to their participating library and they will be returned to us via courier.
Recalling Items
Patrons can recall items from faculty and doctoral students. Please ask the attendant at the circulation desk for help with recalling items. If you are a faculty member or a doctoral student and you receive a recall notice, please arrange to have the item returned to us as soon as possible.
Hold Requests
A hold request can be placed if an item is already checked out and upon its return an email will be sent to the requesting patron and held for ten days.
