Turnaround Time
Requests are typically processed within 1-2 business days. Materials may take anywhere from 2 days to 3 weeks to arrive, depending on the type of material, its availability, and the lending library’s location and efficiency. Please note that delays may occur during winter and summer breaks due to holiday shipping and library closures.
Restrictions and Denied Requests
ILL requests may be denied for various reasons, and you will be notified via email if this occurs.
- We generally cannot request items from public libraries outside of Kentucky or international libraries.
- Brittle, restricted, valuable, or rare materials may be difficult to obtain.
- We do not fulfill ILL requests for items we own that are currently checked out.
Fees and Charges
The library aims to cover all ILL fees, but if a request is expensive or if there are multiple costly requests in an academic year, we may reach out to you to see if you would like to cover the cost.
- ILL materials incur the same overdue fines as items from our library but begin accruing the day after the due date.
- You are responsible for all costs associated with lost or damaged items, including replacement and processing fees set by the lending library.
- A $10 replacement fee will be charged for lost or damaged ILL book straps.
